Music video evaluation
My music video was on the song addled eyes by ok goodnight and my intention with the video was to make it a narrative conceptual video, emphasising the experimental sides of the music video. I think the early half of the music video works much better than the second half of the video as it has a much deeper connection with the lyrics. I tried to embrace the carol vernallis side of the video later on with repeating scenes however i feel this just made the later half of the video boring and not as impactful or get across the message i was trying to say very well. I used effects in my finished video and added scenes that were missing. Originally in one section i wanted a time-lapse however when editing the final version i chose to have two symbolic shots instead to keep the flow of the music video consistent, i felt having a time-lapse where it was would be to distracting as it was such a change from the rest of the video. The effects i added in the finished version changed the hues of some of the scenes. I added these effects as i wanted some scenes to link back to the album art and to hint at the theme of being lost in a dream. The scenes i chose to do this on were the most dreamlike ones such as the dyed water running into the drain, shots of clouds , the statue and the flowers as it was supposed to imply that there was a separation between reality and the dreamlike state the character was in. I feel i also accomplished this in the scene where the character is speaking to themselves. I decided not to use a mask and cloning here as i think that the scene expresses the confusion better when it looks like she is talking to her self. In terms of camera and lighting i used mainly natural lighting however i made sure that the weather was correct for a lot of the shots so that they weren't out of place in the final video.
