Planning and time keeping
Upon reading about animation i came to the conclusion that it would take a long period of time to do a majority of the animation. In my planning I have decided that this would likely take 6 weeks of animation time as i read that it would take 6 weeks to animate 60 seconds to 90 seconds for an average video however other studios that i read about gave different times for how long it would take them to animate a similar time. Taking into consideration that it will be five scenes and each scene would around 20 seconds this means that the animation studio will be looking at 100 to 110 seconds of animation. As per the budgeting however we will be looking at higher end animation studios within the UK i am confident that an animation studio large enough with enough personnel and a good reputation will be able to provide the animation at a reasonable price. Within the very first week I believe it would be best for us to film the final scene as it is relatively simple and would provide them with an example of what we intend to do as well as all of the planning relevant to the scenes for example the mood boards. With all of the planning provided to the animation studio they may have an easier time animating which might again decrease the time they spend animating scenes. We should also be ready to provide whatever is needed to the animation team during this time. During the final weeks it will a case of animating over the final scene, the one provided at the start of production, I have gave the animation studio two weeks to do this as it may be more complicated to sync animation to film however this could also be opposite and the film could actually help them to animate easier which means it could be done in one week. The final week is for editing the film together and adding the logo to the end of the film as well as general cleaning up of the film.
Animation Studio mood board
I think arcus are a very good looking animation studio for what we hope to create, from their show reel they animate in many different styles and seem to be quite experienced in what they create. This is good for the creation of our film as it uses a style that isn't entirely ordinary. Arcus are located in Newcastle so it would be fairly easy to work with them as they aren't very far away. Arcus have worked for companies such as game studios and televisions companies which makes them ideal for doing our project as they have experience in television and advertising. I believe arcus to be our best shot at creating the advert in the time provided.
Animate seem to specialise in much more simplistic animation that would work much better for an animated logo. They probably would not work for our main animation studio as their show reel doesn't really suit our style however they would be something to remember for the future as they could provide an animated version of the brand logo for further advertisement or animation projects. Animate have worked with many television companies on mainly advertisements and seem to have a very clear understanding on how advertising works so this is also a key factor when considering this company.
I believe that fudge animation, similar to arcus, would be able to get our animation completed as from their show reel they have made similar things and once again have the reputation would also support their ability to create what we need. Fudge have worked with Disney which is also a reason for whey I recommend them for creating the advert as they have worked with high end companies. Fudge also seem to have worked for companies in television and advertising which means they are likely to understand what we are looking for and know how to make it stand out.
Ending/ IRL scene
The ending and IRL scene will be shot in a home environment in theory we can use anyone willing's home for this scene or we could use a studio for it however that will add to the budget. For this short scene we will need a camera and lighting equipment as we will be shooting in an enclosed indoor space where we can control the lighting however we need to balance it across the room otherwise it will look strange when filmed, we should also try to avoid facing cameras directly at the actor. If we are using a studio then we may not need to worry about lighting as some already have lighting set ups that are adequate for what we will be trying to do. We will need to discuss with the studio about the mise en scene as we need to know whether they can supply chairs and tables or whether we will need to bring them.
