The scene opens like a book and shows an animated sketch drawing. The time is at some point during the Victorian era. There is a boy who has just gotten been given his first shilling, he holds it up to the sky and lets the light shine on it as he stares at it with controlled excitement.

Narrator:

“Peter Carrington received his first shilling from his newspaper round at ten years old, that shilling is so special to him he would treasure it for the rest of his life.”

The page turns to show a Victorian wedding of petals falling from the ceiling and cheering can be heard all around, the groom is holding something in his pocket. The page turns again to show a family talking to each other and the father has his hand holding something in his pocket again, he slowly takes out the shilling from his pocket and hands it over to his oldest son who simply nods to his father and clutches the shilling tightly.

Narrator:

“Peter at around 60 years of age would pass it on to his son Charles Carrington in 1904 who understood why the shilling meant so much and was said to have kept it on him at all times”

The page turns and shows a trench in 1916 the first world war and soldiers leaning up against the trench wall. We zoom in on one man who is standing up against the wall, he pulls out and stares blankly at a shilling in his hands and clenches it tightly.

Narrator:

“Charles would not survive the War but his body found it’s way back to England and the shilling would be passed on to his son Andrew Carrington.”

The page turns and shows a man commanding a tank, spinning a shilling in his fingers and we hear the sound of artillery coming to hit near the tank, the man looks away from his shilling and up to the sky, he then calmly goes down into the tank and closes the hatch.

Narrator:

“Andrew joined the army against the wishes of his mother and was a tanker in Africa during the second world war.”

The page turns to show another wedding and quickly moves to the other side of the book to show a family picture of two adults and two children.

Narrator:

“Andrew survived the war and had two children called Marie and Anna. When the time was right he passed on the shilling to Anna as Marie had moved away.”

The page turns to show a father handing down a Shilling to his daughter as she turns eighteen.

Narrator:

“My grandmother Anna became very good at photography and opened a shop for beautiful artistic photos. She always said that the shilling she was given was her reason for going out and finding amazing locations to photograph.”

The page turns and reveals a family picture taken in a polaroid style.

Narrator:

“Anna had two children Susan and Michael. My father is Michael ad was given the shilling as his mother was on his eighteenth birthday.”

The page turns to a portrait of a man dressed in a tuxedo.

Narrator:

“My father met my mother at his school where he took architectural design. He says he was inspired by his mothers photographs she used to take.”

The page turns to show a drawing that’s half finished and the camera pans over to the other page where there is a shilling carefully taped into the book. The camera zooms out to show an eighteen year old boy holding the sketchbook.

Narrator:

“I still have more to discover before I finish this page yet, discover your history or maybe even yourself and others with anscestree.”

The camera pans out and animated characters from earlier in the advert appear around the boy as it fades to black
