Research on Australian new wave cinema
Lasting from the early 1970's to the mid 1980's Australian new wave was all about rebuilding the film industry which had collapsed after the 2nd world war and they did this by introducing a whole host of new directors. These new rising directors took what was good about current American cinema and attempted to create a similar style in their own way. The did this by analysing their own society and their identity to create new controversial ideas with a legacy that can still be seen today.
Pre WW2
The Australian film industry boomed during the 1910-1920's as the industry moved away from small home and local films to larger production companies. This allowed the distribution of media within the country to move quite rapidly and allowed for more expensive productions to be created within the country.
The collapse of the Australian film industry
The collapse of the Australian film industry occurred after WW2 in 1945 and mainly fell apart due to the countries focus on rebuilding
